Book Five: Deuteronomy.
(Deuteronomy 1:34) “And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying, Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers, Save Ca’-leb the son of Je-phun’-neh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the lord. Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou shalt not go in thither.”
(Deuteronomy 3:25) “I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jor’-dan, that goodly mountain, and Leb’-a-non. But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.”
(Deuteronomy 6:6) “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
(Deuteronomy 9:12) “And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou has brought forth out of E’-gypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
(Deuteronomy 12:2) “Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherin the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn down their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.”
(Deuteronomy 14.19) “And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten. But of all clean fowls ye may eat.”
(Deuteronomy 17:16) “But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to E’-gypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.”
(Deuteronomy 20:20) “Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down.”
(Deuteronomy 24:5) “When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken."
(Deuteronomy 28:53) “And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee: So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave: So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates. The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.”
(Deuteronomy 27:15) “Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, A’-men.”
(Deuteronomy 31:29) “Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them. For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands. And Mo’-ses spake into the ears of all the congregation of Is’-ra-el the words of this song, until they were ended.”
(Deuteronomy 34:5) “So Mo’-ses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Mo’-ab, according to the word of the LORD. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Mo’-ab, over against Beth-pe’-or: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.”
