Book Eleven: 1 Kings
(1 Kings 2:12) “Then sat Sol’-o-mon upon the throne of Da’-vid his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.
(1 Kings 4:33) “And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Leb’-a-non even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.”
(1 Kings 8:5) “And king Sol’-o-mon, and all the congregation of Is’-ra-el, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.”
(1 Kings 10:18) “Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the best gold. The throne had six steps, and the top of the throne was round behind: and there were stays on either side on the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the stays.”
(1 Kings 12:28) “Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Je-ru’-sa-lem: behold thy gods, O Is’-ra-el, which brought thee up out of the land of E’-gypt. And he set the one in Beth’-el, and the other put he in Dan.”
(1 Kings 15:12) “And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. And also Ma’-a-chah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and A’-sa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kid’-ron.”
(1 Kings 18:42) “So A’-hab went up to eat and to drink. And E-li’-jah went up to the top of Car’-mel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand.”
(1 Kings 21:4) “And A’-hab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Na’-both the Jez’-reel-ite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.”
